Matt is a firm believer that as a therapist his role is to provide you with the tools to self manage your injury/pain and learn how to avoid re-injury, so every effort will be made to ensure that the number of recommended face to face appointments are kept to a minimum.
The services Matt offers are:
Runners get injured, it comes with the territory. Why some get injured more than others can often be an area of mystery and frustration but by assessing ALL the factors it is possible to make you a stronger, faster, more resilient runner. As a Sports Therapist and Running Coach, Matt will make sure you reach a FULL recovery as quickly as possible and reduce the chances of the same issue arising again. Should you need referring to an alternative health professional, Studio57clinic has a team of 10 dedicated therapists including physios, osteopaths, podiatrists and massage therapists. Rest assured you will be in good hands.
Whether it’s a full two and half hour video gait analysis or a 90 minute ‘Runner’s MOT‘, stepping into the fantastic gait lab at StrideUK will allow Matt to assess your biomechanics & running form and pinpoint what you should be doing in order to recover from current injury, reduce the risk of future injury, or simply improve your running performance. StrideUK is one of the first companies in the UK to use software that allows the assessor to not only analyse your movement (kinematics) when you run but also the forces acting on your body (kinetics). This is thanks to the incredible 3D segment model generation via depth sensing cameras. Identifying how your body deals with the forces of running often provides a far more useful tool than just seeing how your body moves. For more info, visit www.strideuk.com.
By evaluating your current level of fitness, discussing your goals and formulating a suitable target race time, Matt can create you a 12 week online training plan (16 weeks for a half marathon or marathon). He will check your plan weekly and add/ modify training sessions as and when applicable. You are welcome to submit your running sessions via Garmin, Strava, etc. so we can assess your progress.
Research shows that to achieve goals and remain injury free, runners can really benefit from adding a couple of ancillary strength & conditioning sessions to their week. But which exercises does your body need? How many reps and sets? Matt can provide you with a supplementary plan that integrates it into your weekly run sessions.
Matt offers 1:1 or group indoor strength & conditioning sessions in the matted rehab & weights area at Studio57clinic. This is a very popular add-on for runners who know that that will not be able to do their strength work at home due to limited space or danger of distraction.
